East Coast Wave Breakers

I’ve decided to bring forward this post due to being featured in a very small way in an online magazine.

East Coast Wave Breakers

Featured by Landscape Photography Magazine last night and currently rocking 300+ likes.

I love the east coast. I’ve been visiting since i was young, and it is a bit of a fixture now i have my own children.

I’ve been here 3 times in the last couple of years for various reasons, and took a few photos each time.

Generally i will either go to Hunstanton as a base, or further round the coast to Southwold. depending which i will sometimes stop all the way down on the trip to places like Cromer and Caister.

long exposure seaside

Hunstanton from near the front shops, very early in the morning.

Sometimes a huge blank slate is great for a shot.

Old Hunstanton Rocks

Always stay safe. This was on an outgoing tide but still pretty precarious standing on the rocks.

There are some fantastic spots around to work with and would be better on a less overcast day.

There is a wreck on the beach at Hunstanton. The Steam Trawler Sheraton broke free of it’s moorings in 1947 and drifted onto the beach, where the hull still lies.

A quick shot of the Wreck.

I really need to go back here, as i was a little late in the day and the tide had receded.

Further round the coast you have a load of options for days out shooting. Brancaster has some great areas to shoot, Titchwell Marsh if you like birding.

Cromer Pier in Black and White. Really nice contrasts and lines. EXIF: f22, 30 Seconds, iso100

Caister Wavebreakers

I could shoot these wavebreakers at Caister on Sea All day long.

Lovely tones and some great lines to shoot with.

Long exposures on the waves is great , as they are quite large and do give you a good misty look.

EXIF: f13, 30 Seconds, Iso100

Nikon D3200, 10-20mm Sigma Lens

A straight on shot of the wavebreakers. My favourite. Available as a 16×20 print from me for just £25 inc VAT + delivery. Just send me an email or message. Other sizes available.

Caister Wavebreakers

One of the old Pillbox Defences. This looks awesome in the early morning sunrise. The waves were crashing over this quite forcefully. There is a bit of colour cast from the filter. This was early days for me with ND filters and daytime long exposure. This can be dealt with to some extent in post, but better quality filters helps as well. EXIF: f18, 45 seconds, ISO100. May even go through end reedit this at some point.

And a single shot with the waves crashing in. EXIF: f18, 1/250th, ISO100

Pillbox at Caister

Finally a shot of the constant battle between the shore and the sea. EXIF: f13, 30 Seconds, ISO100
